Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney overtook Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton as the candidate who has raised the most from the pharmaceutical industry, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics. Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, raised $227,455 from pharma compared to $172,150 for Clinton through July 15, 2007. Clinton continues to lead the pack in terms of garnering donations from healthcare professionals. So far she?s collected $998,851 from this group. Romney is second in this category with $829,337. Clinton has raised the most money overall with a total of $63 million through July 15. Illinois Senator Barack Obama is second with $58.9 million. Romney is top Republican fundraiser with a total of $44.4 million.
